After a bright start by Queen’s it was the visitors who found themselves two up after just 16 minutes. First of all Ross Arthurs excellent cross from the right touchline was headed home by Matthew Ferguson from 6 yards out. Five minutes later a ball into the Queen’s box was deflected into the path of Ferguson who poked home his own and his team’s second goal. Queen’s responded well to these early setbacks and got back in the game when Lorcan McIlroy fired home. It was level at the break after Leon Bonnes’s cross was headed in a the far post by Jonah Mitchell.
Queen’s dominated the second period and soon took the lead thanks to a great free kick taken by Marc McKenna, whose 30 yard shot flew into the net off the underside of the crossbar. At the other end a long range shot by Dylan Davidson crashed against the bar and over to safety. Matt Hughes had a low shot well saved by keeper Ryan Miskelly but moments later Hughes cut in from the left wing and this time Miskelly got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out. Hughes was in the right place to complete the scoring when he tapped home from close range following a mad scramble in the Welders box.
This was an excellent victory after falling behind in the early part of the game.
Next is an away game against Loughgall on Sat 14th December, KO 2pm
