Queen’s were on top from the start and were ahead after 25 minutes when Adam Calvert’s low cross from the left was turned in by Ben Mulgrew. Hesitancy in the box cost Knockbreda a second goal when the ever alert, Matt Hughes, nipped in to score off the post from a very narrow angle. Knockbreda had chances too, especially when Conal Delaney tried his luck from outside the box only to be denied by a fine save by Declan Brown.
The second half followed a similar pattern and a third goal soon followed, Jonah Mitchell cut in from the left and his powerful shot beat Knockbreda keeper Jack Hazard. Knokbreda were reduced to 10 men when Francis Rice was dismissed for 2 yellow cards. Queen’s sub David Magee completed the scoring when he controlled the ball with his back to goal, turned onto his left foot and struck a low shot past Hazard.
This was another very professional performance.
Next is a home game against Newry City on Sat 18th January, KO 2pm
