A recurrence of a thumb injury meant that Queen’s keeper Declan Brown was replaced in goal by Conor Lally.
Two previous meetings against today’s opponents had resulted in comfortable victories for Ards and it took them just 5 minutes to take the lead. Dylan Wilson was the scorer shooting low into the corner from the edge of the box. Queen’s gradually got into the game and former Ards player, Jonah Mitchell, got an equaliser with 20 minutes gone. Things got even better for Queen’s when Matt Hughes’s header beat Brian Nesson in the Ards goal just before the break.
Both teams were making chances and halfway through the second period Queen’s were awarded a penalty for a foul on Matt Hughes. Mitchell’s spot kick gave Neeson no chance. Ards pressed in the latter stages but Queen’s defended well and restricted them to a few goalmouth scrambles.
Next is an away game against Dergview in Castlederg on Sat 9th November KO 3pm
