Queen’s dominated from the kick off and missed a few good chances before finally taking the lead after 36 minutes. Jonah Mitchell gained possession, passed to Lorcan Milroy on the left wing and his low cross was turned into the net by Ciaran O’Hare. PSNI’s Nathan O’Neill got a straight red card for a foul on Ronan Young after 38 minutes and on the stroke of halftime McIlroy’s drive from outside the box was deflected in by Queen’s central defender Adam Robinson.
The second half was one way traffic as the 10 men of the PSNI strived manfully to repel the onslaught. Mitchell got on the score sheet 5 minutes after the break when he got on the end of a fine cross by Josh Corry and Ben Mulgrew completed the scoring with a low shot from the edge of the box, the ball going in off the bottom of the post. Queen’s could have scored more had it not been for a number of good saves by PSNI keeper Oliver Fleetham.
This was a professional performance against a PSNI team which struggled to cope with a man short for most of the game.
Next is a home game against Linfield on Sat 4th December, KO 1:30pm
