Ards started on top but Matt Hughes opened the score for Queen’s after just 6 minutes. The home side equalised after half an hour thanks to a Craig Harris goal.
Ards dominated the second half and it was no surprise when they gained the lead. Ards left back William Armstrong swung in a number of excellent crosses and on 61 minutes Dylan Wilson got on the end of one beyond the far post and shot back across goal and into the far corner. Queen’s keeper Conor Lally made a number of excellent saves to keep his side in the hunt but Wilson scored again with a back post header with 10 minutes left. Queen’s had good fortune when a left wing cross was fired into his own net by Kym Nelson. This led to an interesting last 5 minutes when Queen’s came close to an equaliser on a couple of occasions during goalmouth scrambles but Ards held on to claim a deserved victory.
Next is a league game home to Dundela on Sat 12th October KO 3pm.
