Irish Cup Round 5
This was the third meeting between these two teams this season, the previous games having resulted in a win for Lisburn Distillery and a recent draw at Ballyskeagh.
In a whirlwind start Ben Mulgrew opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Matt Hughes’s shot was parried into his path by keeper Jonah Nicoll leaving him with a simple tap in. With 23 minutes gone it was four nil to Queen’s as Ryan McCready completed a 7 minute hatrick. Lisburn Distillery came more into the game but any remaining hope of a comeback was ended when Michael O’Hanlon was shown a straight red card seconds before the interval.
The second half was a calmer affair during which Queen’s added two further goals from Chris Middleton (penalty) and Leon Bonnes. Queen’s had a second penalty when Connor Mulholland was fouled in the box, but Ronan Young’s shot was well saved by Nicholl.
Queen’s have been drawn away to Warrenpoint Town in Round 6 of the Irish Cup.
Queen’s next match will be a league game at home to Newington on Sat 12th January, kick off 2pm.
