By half time the contest was effectively over as Queen’s went into the break with a commanding four goal lead. All four goals were scored by Ryan McCready. The first came when Leon Bonnes played a great defence splitting pass for McCready to run onto and he shot low into the corner past Armagh keeper Daniel Devine. Queen’s were awarded a penalty following a trip on Ben Mulgrew. The normally reliable Chris Middleton’s spot kick was parried by Devine but McCready got there first to tap in from 6 yards. McCready added third goal from a narrow angle and scored again, turning in a low cross from Middleton. In between times McCready saw his header rebound of the crossbar.
The second half was similar to the first with Queen’s on top. Connor Mulholland twice struck the woodwork and Devine made a series of fine saves. The final goal of the game came with 5 minutes to go following good work on the left by Ciaran O’Hare whose cross was turned in first time by Philip Traynor.
This was very good performance against a young Armagh team whose goalkeeper made a number of fine saves.
Queen’s next fixture is a league game home to Sport & Leisure on Saturday 23rd March KO 3pm
