It was a lively start to the game and Moyola had misses a good chance before Matt Hughes opened the scoring with just 6 minutes gone. Adam Robinson hit a great long diagonal ball up the left wing. Hughes caught up with it near the bye line, turned back inside Moyola full back Craig McAllister and his strong low shot beat young keeper Morgan Moore at his near post. Five minutes later Hughes was fouled and Queen’s took a quick free kick to the over lapping Adam Calvert and his shot from a narrow angle found the far corner of the goal. The third goal wasn’t long in coming. Connor Mulholland chased down a ball up the middle and unerringly lobbed over the advancing keeper. Moyola got a goal back before the break when Queen’s keeper Declan Brown couldn’t hold Kyle Beggs’s low cross from the right wing, leaving Tiernan Rafferty with a simple tap in.
In a low key second half, the highlights were two outstanding saves by Morgan Moore. Chris Middleton’s left foot drive was heading for the far top corner until Moore brilliantly tipped it over the top. Minutes later Moore palmed away another strong shot this time from midfielder Barry Walsh.
