Intermediate Cup (Round 1)
Queen’s had the lion’s share of possession from the start but found Markethill’s defence hard to
break down. The breakthrough finally came after 28 minutes when Ben Mulgrew’s header, from
Ronan Young’s corner, trickled into the net. An endless series of crosses into the visitor’s box failed
to produce another goal before the break.
The second half was similar to the first; Queen’s doing all the attacking. On the hour mark a second
goal finally arrived courtesy of Ryan McCready’s header from a right wing corner. Soon after,
McCready hammered home his second and the final goal was a first for Jake Moore with a simple
finish from close in following Fyfe’s good cross to the far post.
Markethill came with a tight defensive set up which they adhered to for the whole game, making it
difficult for Queen’s to make clear cut chances.
We would like to sincerely thank Corries Meats for sponsoring today’s match
