Intermediate Cup (Round 4)
Queen’s welcomed, Limavady based, Newtowne FC to the Dub with a place in the quarter finals for the winners.
Early on Queen’s went close when a long range effort came back off the post but for most of the rest of the half it was the visitors who dominated and they came close when Blain Morrison’s shot was well saved by Declan Brown. Against the run of play it was Queen’s who took the lead on 35 minutes when a low cross from the left wing came off a defender and fell into the path of Eamon Fyfe who drove a great shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Queen’s played better in the second period but again missed chances until Sean O’Reilly sealed the win with a tap in late in the game.
Although well below their best, Queen’s in the end deserved their victory.
