Just 3 weeks ago Queen’s achieved a very hard won point in Banbridge who are still serious contenders for a promotion spot.
The home team struck first after just 10 minutes when Fran McGuinness’s low drive from the edge of the box found the far bottom corner of the Queen’s goal. As the half progressed, Queen’s came well into the game and applied a lot of pressure but couldn’t find an equaliser before the break.
The standard of football was excellent in a very competitive second half which was played at a hectic pace. Queen’s equaised on fifty minutes when Ryan Young unleashed a spectacular volley from out on the left wing and the ball flew past Gerard McErlean in the Banbridge goal. Queen’s looked the more likely to find a winner. Their best chances came late in the game when McErlean saved well on two one on one’s with Ben Mulgrew and Connor Mulholland.
The point keeps Queen’s in second place.
Next game is home to Moyola Park on Saturday 28th April kick off 3 pm.
