With 10 players injured we made the short journey to Glen Road for an important game for the hosts as they try to avoid relegation.
There was much endeavour but not much football on a freezing cold evening and the game was decided moments before halftime when Queen’s conceded a stupid free kick on the left touchline. The kick was swung in to the near post to where the home side’s Niall McAuley scored with a free header past a statuesque Queen’s defence. Queen’s had a few half chances in the game but Nathan Jones lobbed wide, Gareth Orr lashed his shot wide and Ryan Tumelty’s shot was saved by home keeper Michael Magill.
This was a totally dreadful game which was inevitable on a very rutted, bumpy pitch. Thankfully there is just one final game at home to Lisburn Distillery on Saturday 29 th April.
