There was a first game for Emett Friel and a welcome first appearance for Kevin Hagan on his return from a year in Australia. Aaron Keenan was back from injury.
In an entertaining first half the early chances fell to the visitors. From a corner, centre back Stephen McQuillan had a free header from six yards but Kevin Hagan cleared it off the line and then keeper Declan Brown made a good diving save to prevent the visitors from taking the lead. Queen’s had most of the possession and on 41 minutes they took the lead when Aaron Keenan’s shot from outside the box was deflected beyond Moyola’s keeper, Marc Maybin’s reach.
Queen’s dominated the second half and two quick goals settled the result. Matt Hughes’s neat pass released Friel and he slotted the ball under Maybin from 12 yards. For the third goal, good interplay on the left between Hughes and Friel set up Stephen McDowell who fired the ball into bottom corner.
In the end this was a fairly easy and much needed victory.
Next game is away to Bangor on Sat 15th Oct ko 3pm
