Bangor had a good early chance from a corner when Andy Long had a free header from 6 yards but it went over the bar. The visitors had a series of corners and free kicks but the Queen’s defence held firm. Queen’s came more into the game. Connor Mulholland hit a 25 yarder just too high and Daniel Hanna had a chance too but his header went over the top. Darren Gibbons made a fine save to turn Aaron Keenan’s free kick round the post.
On the hour Queen’s were awarded a penalty when Michael Allison was brought down and Hanna’s penalty gave Gibbons no chance. The goal changed the game. Queen’s were on top until the final whistle. They got a second goal with a fine header by Mulholland from a corner and the home side had further chances. Gibbons saved well when Hanna broke free and he also made an excellent save to deny Allison. For an hour this game could have gone either way but Queen’s finished strongly and were deserved winners in the end.
