IRISH CUP round 1

For the first time in a number of years, Premier Intermediate League teams entered the Irish Cup in round 1 rather than round 4. NAFL division 1C side Dromore Amateurs were the visitors.

Dromore have made a poor start to the season and found themselves a goal behind after just two minutes, Matt Hughes the scorer. Queen’s were totally dominant throughout the game and scored further goals through Aaron Keenan, Hughes again, Nathan Jones (4), Conor Mulholland (3), Cameron McCauley (2), Michael Allison and Garrett Quinn. Jones also missed a first half penalty when Daniel Hanna was fouled when about to shoot.

This was a very one sided game. Fair play to the Dromore players who never gave up and who fought a brave, losing battle to the end.

Next game is away to Ards Rangers at Drone Park, Newtownards in the 2nd round of the Steel & Sons Cup on Sat 27th August KO 2.30pm.
