This was our second game against Bangor in a week having beaten them 2 – 0 at the Dub last Saturday.
It was a dream start. After just two minutes Declan Brown’s long kick was headed on by Connor Mulholland into the path of Nathan Jones whose first time volley from the edge of the box gave home keeper Darren Gibbons, no chance. There was a good chance for the home side on 21 minutes, when forward Mark Hillen ran through, but under pressure hit over the bar from ten yards. On 28 minutes it was two nil. Mulholland was held back in the box and for the second consecutive week, Daniel Hanna’s spot kick found the bottom corner.
Soon after the break, there was a third goal for Queen’s when Stuart Harper’s powerful header was too hot to hold for Gibbons and Ciaran O’Hare was on hand to score from close range. Bangor dominated possession for the remainder of the game and got a goal back when Dwaine Beattie chased a long ball and lobbed it over Brown, who had left his goal, from the edge of the box. Ryan Tumelty had two further chances for Queen’s but he was denied by two fine saves by Gibbons.
This win has moved Queen’s up to eighth place in the league table, 4 points above bottom club, Sport & Leisure who also won today, so there is all to play for in the remaining 4 fixtures.
Next game is home to Dundela on Tuesday 18th April, KO 6:45pm
