Steel and Sons Cup Round 4
Having seen Crusaders Res play in recent weeks we knew this would be a tough hurdle. Itgot tougher after just 2 minutes when the visitors impressive winger Salou Kallow cut in from the left wing and fired a low shot just inside Declan Brown’s near post. The young Crues were on top and scored a second goal on 15 minutes when midfielder Padraig McPartland shot home from 25 yards.
Queen’s then came much more into the game and dominated possession but a series of good crosses didn’t find anyone to convert the chances. As halftime approached the visitor’s Darren Bell pounced on a loose ball following a right wing corner and drove the ball into the roof of the net, thus ending the game as a contest.
The second half was a non-event. Queen’s had a lot of possession but few chances. Queen’s substitute keeper Jack McCrea made a fine save and then with 5 minutes left McPartland’s free kick glanced off the head of Matt McManus and into the top corner. Michael Allison had bad luck when his 30 yarder came back off the crossbar to complete a disappointing afternoon.
