In a scoreless first half Queen’s had the better chances and came closest when Patrick Stuart’s effort struck the post. Dundela keeper Jonny Sergeant made some good saves.
The game came to life in the second period and on 55 minutes it was 1-0 to the home side. Queen’s had a chance to clear the ball on the edge of the box and when they failed to do so, the impressive James Sofley gained possession and fired home a low left footer across Declan Brown and into the far corner. Five minutes later Mark Prenter’s free kick was miscued into his own net by a Dundela defender, the ball looping up and over keeper Sergeant and dropping into the corner of the goal.
Dundela’s Mark McClelland had a free header from a corner but his effort went wide. Sofley turned and twisted in the box and hit a powerful shot on the turn to produce a very good tip over save from Brown. In the last few minutes Queen’s Mark Prenter had a chance to win it but his snap shot from ten yards was straight at the keeper.
This was our second draw with Dundela this season. Dundela have strengthened their squad so this was a good point.
