On a very windy day, Queen’s were without the injured Declan Brown, James Ferrin, Thomas Plant and Daniel Culbert. Ryan Murphy was unavailable and Daniel Hanna was ill.
Tobermore had first half chances. Conor Kearns broke clear only to be denied one on one by Queen’s keeper Jack McCrea. Maurice Curtis had a chance but headed just wide.
Ten minutes after the break Kearns scored what was to prove the winning goal. He chased a harmless looking long ball up the middle. Two Queen’s defenders failed to deal with it and Curtis got a shot away which trickled in off the post. Soon after, Kearns got a straight red for a reckless challenge and with half an hour left Queen’s took control of the game. Tobermore defended manfully but Queen’s had many good situations and a number of chances. James Lavery shot wide of the far post, Mark Prenter’s shot was well saved and with 5 minutes left Owain Beggs’ volley came back off the crossbar.
Another frustrating day, another game we should not have lost.
Next game is home to Moyola Park on Sat 14th March 3pm kick off.
