11 October 2008 - Good performance by Freshers in first game
The Freshers (Colts) gave a very good account of themselves in their first game of the season against a strong Groomsport team at Newtownards. Often the first game is difficult as a complete group of new players try to gel as a team but on this occasion they quickly found their feet and were unfortunate to lose in a penalty shoot out after a 1-1 draw.
Having gone behind to an early goal Queen's gave as good as they got for the rest of the game and David Magee scored a dramatic equaliser with the last kick of the 90 minutes. David's father, Shane Magee was one of Queen's alltime greats and played in Queen's best ever team which reached the final of the Intermediate Cup in 1980.
Based on this performance the Colts can look forward to a successful season.
