In a much changed team there were debuts for Daniel Culbert and Kevin Hagan, recently signed from Glenavon. It was a cold day on a decent pitch with little wind and good football was certainly possible against a young, inexperienced Corner team.
The home team struck first after just 9 minutes. Kenny Wright ran onto a great through ball, rounded Queen’s keeper Gerard Duff and tapped it into the empty net. Queen’s were slow to get going but equalised after 26 minutes, Eunan Donnelly firing home from 14 yards past Corner keeper David Rowan. Just before the break, right back Daniel Culbert, surged forward and was in the right place when the ball broke to him in the box, to score with a low cross shot.
Queen’s totally dominated the second period. Donnelly headed against the crossbar from a corner and goals by Matt McManus, Mark Prenter and an unfortunate own goal by Simon Brown completed a comfortable win.
Our first league win in five games against a weak Chimney Corner team, moved us up to joint third with four other teams. Our next four games are all at home. First up is Annagh United on Sat 4th February KO 3pm
