Tragically, one of our former players, Kyle McDonald, has passed away, unexpectedly, in his sleep.
Kyle played for the Club in the early 2000’s and was a member of the Queen’s Colts fresher team which won their division of the Amateur League in 2002/03. He played for our Collingwood Cup team in Cork in 2002 and made 5 appearances for our Saturday First team.
He later went on to become a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, most recently at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
Paul Leonard, his former Colts team manager, recalls that “Kyle was quick and very tough in the tackle and very committed to the club whenever he played. Most of all he was a great guy and very popular with all his colleagues.”
Those of us who knew him are shocked and saddened at this news and we send our deepest sympathy and best wishes to his family and friends.
